Optometry

At Novio Oogzorg you can come for various optometric examinations focused on the health of your eyes. Among other things, we examine and assess eye complaints and abnormalities such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, dry eyes, retinal abnormalities, raised eye pressure and other eye conditions.

Our examinations focus on detecting eye diseases early and assessing your eye health. If necessary, we work together with your GP or refer you specifically to an ophthalmologist.

We also carry out the pre-assessment for laser eye surgery and lens implantation (RLE) and provide the check-ups after the procedure.

Thorough

examination

During the eye examination we carefully check your eyes for various eye conditions, such as glaucoma, damage caused by diabetes or high blood pressure, and ageing of the retina. Depending on your situation, additional tests may be needed, such as an OCT scan, an eye pressure measurement or fundus photos.

During any of our examinations your pupils may be temporarily dilated with eye drops. Your vision will then be blurred for a few hours and you may not drive back yourself: arrange transport or come with someone who can drive for you. Bring sunglasses.

What should you bring?
Your ID, your glasses and an up-to-date list of your medication. Do you have a referral from your GP? Please bring it too.

The examination is always tailored to your personal situation and eye health.

At Novio Oogzorg we provide primary and intermediate optometric care. This means you can come to us when your complaint is too complex for an optician or GP, but a hospital visit is not yet necessary.

Where needed, we use modern equipment such as an OCT scan, fundus photography and eye pressure measurement.

Referral and insurance
Ask your GP for a referral. The examination is fully covered and does not affect your deductible.

Binocular vision examination

Sometimes a standard eye test does not provide enough insight: complaints persist or glasses do not feel comfortable. In such cases it is often wise to look more closely at how the eyes work together.

An eye health check is an examination that assesses the general health of your eyes. It can be done when you have complaints, but also as a precaution when eye diseases run in your family.

With a referral letter from the medical examiner, you can come to us for the eye test for your driving licence.

Glaucoma screening

If glaucoma runs in your family or your eye pressure is too high, you are at increased risk of developing glaucoma. With our OCT scan we can detect any abnormalities early and, if necessary, arrange a referral to an ophthalmologist.

Children can focus (accommodate) very strongly, so a standard eye test can miss an abnormality. We examine children from the age of 8.

Do you have dry, burning, watery, itchy or irritated eyes? We find out where the complaints come from and discuss a suitable approach with you.

Cataract and retina examination

For a cataract and retina examination we use eye drops to dilate the pupil. This allows us to assess the lens properly for cataract and at the same time check the retina for any abnormalities.

Diabetic eye examination

If you have diabetes, it is important to have your eye health checked properly. The small blood vessels in the eye can show changes that you do not notice yourself, but that are visible during an eye examination.
