With a refractive error, light is not focused sharply on the retina. The result is blurred vision, tired eyes or headaches.

From around age 40, the lens in your eye becomes less flexible. Reading up close gets harder: you hold your phone further away. This is normal. We measure what you need and check your eyes for other causes at the same time.
Burning, gritty or tired eyes, especially behind a screen, in the wind or with contact lenses. We look at the cause, such as the eyelid glands or the tear film, and give you a clear treatment plan. More about dry eyes.
Surprisingly often, watery eyes are caused by dry eyes: the eye reacts by producing extra tears. Eyelid inflammation or a blocked tear duct can also play a role. We find out the cause and refer you if needed.
Sudden loss of vision, a curtain or shadow in your view, a shower of new floaters with flashes of light, or a painful red eye: call your GP or the out-of-hours GP service (huisartsenpost) immediately, or call us.
